Zach graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2024 with his B.S in Biotechnology and Molecular Biosciences, where he worked in Dr. Maureen Ferran’s Vesicular Stomatitis Virus Lab researching NF-κB Dependent Antiviral Pathways in VSV-resistant Prostate Cancer Cells. He primarily worked towards uncovering what viral-encoded genes antagonized host innate immunity through downregulation of NF-κB. In June of 2024, Zach joined the Engelman Laboratory to further his interest in virology by studying virus-host interactions in HIV nuclear trafficking and integration. His current work focuses on the roles of integrase in establishing and maintaining active HIV infection. Outside of the lab, Zach enjoys tennis, horror movies, and going to raves with friends.
